COVID-19 business face covering requirement

Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Judge Nelson Wolff signed a new order which mandates face coverings at all businesses where physical distancing of 6 feet is not possible. Under this order, “all commercial entities providing goods and services” must implement a health and safety policy within five days. The policy must require, at a minimum, that all employees or visitors wear face coverings when in an area or performing an activity which will necessarily involve close contact. The order continues to allow exemptions for individuals when wearing a face covering will pose a greater mental or physical health, safety or security risk. Businesses who fail to follow the order can be fined by $1000. Individuals will not be fined. More information on current and active emergency health orders can be found at
