Vaccine Eligibility

Under the State of Texas eligibility guidelines for the COVID-19 vaccine about 60% of San Antonians are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine under Phase 1A and Phase 1B. The State has distributed a limited supply of vaccine throughout San Antonio and Bexar County and the supply is not enough to meet demand. Director for the Metropolitan Health District, Dr. Anita Kurian recommends “residents reach out to their healthcare providers to be placed on the waitlist, the sooner the better”. As manufacturing of the vaccine increases, more healthcare providers and pharmacies will have more vaccine for administration. Additional clinics, including drive-through clinics for the general public, will be scheduled as supply increases. It is expected to be late Spring 2021 or Summer 2021 before the vaccine is available to the general public. Contact your healthcare provider or pharmacy to be placed on a waitlist to receive the vaccine.
