Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

Starting today May 12, 2021, consumers can begin applying for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. Participants can receive up to $50 per month towards your broadband service and equipment rentals or a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per hous ehold. A household is eligible if a person in that house meets the federal poverty guidelines, participates in Lifeline, SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, free or reduced school lunches, received a federal Pell grant, or experience a significant loss of income since February 29, 2021.

You may apply online, by mail or by contacting your broadband provider. If you already receive Lifeline you do automatically qualify and do not need to complete an application—just contact your broadband/internet service program to enroll. This program is temporary and will end when funding is distributed or six months after the end of the COVID 19 emergency—whichever is sooner.
