Alerts and Information

It’s critical to receive up-to-date information during emergencies and disasters. With today’s technology, there are so many different ways to receive information leading up to, during, and after a natural disaster. We recommend you have at least three ways of receiving alerts and information.

You can receive various alerts through your smart phone. First, make sure you have emergency alerts enabled on your phone. Second, download some apps, like the Ready South Texas app, and enable notifications. Third, register for the City of San Antonio’s wireless emergency alert system, AlertSA, by signing up at AlertSA.com.

Another way is to utilize social media. Make sure to follow official City of San Antonio accounts. You can find the City’s Fire Department, Police Department, and Office of Emergency Management all on Facebook and Twitter. You should also follow our local National Weather Service’s Twitter account for real time updates.

If the internet goes out, your phone dies, or you don’t have social media, use a hand-held weather radio to listen to the local weather radio station for updates and information during an emergency.

You’ll be ready to respond to any emergency by signing up for alerts and getting critical information before disaster strikes. To find out more information on how to receive emergency notifications and warnings, visit ReadySouthTexas.gov
